Friends: “Things happen when you least expect them”
Me: “I have been least expecting for something to happen for a long time”
Funny enough it sure does!
I was fully planning on taking a retail job to help me find the $400/month I needed to balance out my multiple plans and out of nowhere I was asked to pick up a second side hustle contract. As a result and with a lot of work I was able to make things balance.
Unfortunately, I knew that the two contracts will overlap and that my February will be spent working long hours cooked up at home.
After pushing myself too far with half marathon training, I ended up having to fully stop working out due to a shin fracture.
All of this meant that as my hours of computer staring increased and without the regularity of training to get me out of the house, I was sure to be a bit of a hermit and pretty much forget about dating!
Was I ever wrong!
On a whim I decided to join my running friends for a weekend getaway in the beginning of February. And sure enough yours truly will be yours truly and have a story to share!
It is interesting how one can casually interact with someone for months and then one day actually see them. You see them and they see you. And with no better words to describe it… magic happens.
You stay up until 5am drinking and sharing your life stories. You stay up the next night and share your strengths and weaknesses. You leave to go home and you see each other the very next day. You continue to talk. You make traditional paella for a Spanish man, you mess it up while destroying your kitchen and you end up winning his heart.
He leaves for a vacation in Colombia and then rides a horse for 2 hours, a bus for 2 hours, gets in a car with a random driver to make it to the airport, convinces a hippy stranger to let him have his seat on an overbooked plane, and finally makes it minutes to his second plane leaving to Toronto, in order to make it back for your birthday!
He is the man the understands you have commitment issues and still sticks it out until you finally ask after almost two months of dating if you are the only girl for him so that he can kiss you and say that you are!
Even though it is easy for this girl to get in her zone and ignore the world, he is the man that has become a priority in her life.
He knows me and doesn’t see the painful experiences in my life as faults, but as the pieces that make me into who I am. He is the man that puts a smile on my face and makes me feel like I am the most incredible girl in the world.
Life sure happens when you least expect it, even if you least expect it for close to four years and date a countless number of men!
